Friends let us start our upsc preparation with History
First of all i will tell you the sources,
6-12 NCERT (OLD)
A G.S. Manual (yes wohi moti waali,you can buy anyone like TMH,UNIQUE(meri hindi waali junta ke liye please check Pic of Brijlal on that),Spectrum etc.)
Spectrum A brief history of modern india by Rajeev Ahir
In hindi Spectrum Aadhunik Bharat ka Itihaas by Rajeev Ahir;both book are same.If you read this book then you can escape vipin chandra book.
For My state civil services waali junta please buy g.s.manual of unique(yr facts jaada hai usmein).
For Art and culture you must go with the TMH book by Nitin Singhania.
So first please please apne puraane gyan ke pitaare ko band kar ke hi ncert books ko padhein,otherwise dil nahi lagega.
So what is our intention behind reading ncert books because we think aabe ye to bachchon waali book hai,yes it is but we have to read it,because of two reasons first one is for those who don't have any idea about histroy means they only know about some shallow things,so these books give them basic idea,and 2nd reason is that it have some really good fact that sometime upsc or psc's asked in their exam.so chance ku lena,padh lo
Now search basic facts from those books(ncert),don't write it just mark them,and whenever you had finished it please revise once.
Now start with your g.s.manual first Ancient read them,mark them,and if neccessary write.If time permits then go and make notes but please if you are going to write just a copy of that manual,don't write it.
Now as you finished medival part from manual,and going to start modern read spectrum with g.s. manual.read every topic from both.again notes so friends chapna nahi.
